Overview
More than just another equalizer, the EQP-1S3 is a masterpiece of analog design, revered for its unique tonal shaping and musical character. While the classic EQP-1A has long been celebrated for its signature sound, the EQP-1S3 takes it a step further. With both tube and solid-state variants, refined low-end curves and frequencies, as well as expanded high frequency and shape options, the EQP-1S3 offers far greater flexibility and precision, making it the ultimate EQ for engineers who demand both heritage and innovation in their tools.
In partnership with Pultec (Pulse Techniques, LLC), we have recreated this coveted piece of hardware for the modern era. Utilizing our proprietary component-leveling modeling technology, we captured the hardware’s analog warmth and precision, resulting in a powerful tool that faithfully recreates the magic of EQP-1S3 while offering added flexibility for the modern engineer.
Introducing, MixWave: Pultec EQP-1S3.
Expanded capabilities
Where the EQP-1A stops, the EQP-1S3 begins. The EQP-1S3 features additional frequency boost options at 1k and 2k, as well as two new high-frequency shelf boosts at 5k and 10k. These expanded choices give you the tools to craft your sound with greater depth, presence, and air, resulting in unprecedented flexibility in a Pultec.
Refined low-end
The EQP-1S3 improves upon the iconic low-end shaping of the original Pultec design, delivering more precise and musical control over bass frequencies. With three out of four frequencies being tweaked for more musically useful applications as well as modified curves, you can quickly and easily add definition to kick drums, tighten up low-end muddiness, or inject warm, analog weight into a full mix. The result is a rich, defined low-end that feels both powerful and natural.
Best of both worlds
The EQP-1S3 has a solid-state variant known as the EQP-1S3-SS. It retains the same front-end design of its tube sibling but features a 2520 op-amp, delivering a unique tonal character. This solid-state version offers a tighter low end and a cleaner, more focused sound, as compared to its more harmonically exciting tube counterpart. By modeling both amps, it adds the ability to seamlessly switch between the rich warmth of the tube model and the precision of the solid-state version—giving the best of both worlds in one plugin.
