Overview
Founded by brothers George and Geoff Hazelrigg, Hazelrigg Industries creates world-class studio gear that has become a staple in countless hitmakers’ arsenals. The VNE evolved from the legendary D.W. Fearn VT-7, featuring a unique Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) gain reduction circuit that delivers transparent, musical compression. Known for its ability to shape dynamics without compromising tone, the VNE has become a favorite for engineers who want clean control with analog soul.
In collaboration with Hazelrigg Industries, we’ve brought this revered piece of gear to the digital world. Using our proprietary component-level modeling process, we’ve faithfully captured the VNE’s distinct sonic character while expanding its flexibility with modern features.
Introducing, MixWave: Hazelrigg VNE.
Pulse width modulation
At the core of the VNE is a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) gain reduction circuit. Originally pioneered in the D.W. Fearn VT-7, this marks one of the few times PWM compression has been faithfully brought to the digital realm—delivering elite analog behavior with a uniquely musical response.
Effortless dynamic control
Renowned for its ability to manage dynamics with precision, the VNE applies compression smoothly while preserving the tone, character, and transient detail of the original signal. Whether on vocals, guitars, or bass, it delivers transparent control without compromise.
True tube tone
The VNE’s Class-A triode design and transformer-coupled I/O have been meticulously modeled, capturing the open, dimensional sound only tubes can deliver—with all the warmth, depth, and harmonic nuance intact.
Built for modern workflows
Exclusive plugin-only features expand the VNE’s versatility for today’s workflows. Instantly dial in parallel compression with Dry/Wet mix, shape your signal pre- or post-compression using input/output filters, and enjoy seamless performance on both mono and stereo sources—all while preserving the unmistakable Hazelrigg sound.
